WHAT IS YOUR ROLE/POSITION IN MOTORCYCLING?
I am director of the FIM Women in Motorcycling Commission, 2nd vice president of the Finnish motorcycling federation, motorsport journalist, author, columnist, TV-host and producer.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO MOTORCYCLING?
My father used to be a professional Road Racing rider who achieved world championship bronze in 1975. My mum helped his career by taking lap times, helping him to fix the bike, managed all the things necessary so that he could concentrate on racing. So I was born into the world of motorcycling and have enjoyed motorcycling and racing as long as I remember.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE/ENJOY IN MOTORCYCLING?
When you have managed to make your passion as your job, you are extremely fortunate and I really recognize that and am grateful for that. Motorcycling for me is not just riding, it´s the people in this scene, the community that makes it so special. No matter what country or what discipline, you sense the family feeling straight away. People share same kind of mentality and lifestyle. It´s just something special that is hard to find anywhere else.
WHAT IS YOUR OBJECTIVE, YOUR GOAL?
My goal is that one day everyone who wants, is able to enjoy the possibilities motorcycling provides.
DO YOU HAVE A ROLE MODEL/MENTOR THAT ENCOURAGED YOU?
I have never had any role models in my life but for sure the influence of my parents played a big role for where I am today. They never really recommended me to find my job from motorcycling but they have always encouraged me and my brother to do what feels best for us.
WHY WOULD YOU RECOMMEND MOTORCYCLING TO OTHER GIRLS/WOMEN?
This is a man´s world but there is a place for women and in most of the countries they are warmly welcomed to join by men. The best things in motorcycling for me are the people, the adrenaline, the feeling of freedom. Because of those I would recommend motorcycling. But in the end everyone has to follow their dreams and passion. If someone feels motorcycling is something she is interested in, she should do everything she can to be part of it. There are so many possibilities to be involved in motorcycling.
